You can be experienced in traveling the world, but there is always something that you don't know about your holiday:
1. Do research on the trip. You should collect as much information as possible regarding your future trip. If you have no geographical knowledge about the country you are flying to, opt for some simple schemes like Wikipedia or popular travel resources, where people share their impressions on the country. For an exotic destination, you should be careful for you never know what's waiting for you out there.

2. Make sure you have connections. You can befriend people on the Internet, or make friends as you go, but having locals show you around is an excellent option, especially if you find yourself in a situation, where help is needed. You will probably assume there is a travel insurance for this, but you have to take additional precautions if you are going abroad.
3. Travel early. Of course, not everyone of us is an early bird, and we understand that. Sometimes, all we want is to stay in bed and give in to the laziness that surrounds us. However, experts claim that getting up before the sun is up can actually help us organize the day. For people, who find this option impossible, there is a late night travel. Owls may rejoice as they don't have to set their alarm clock, and kids will be excited to know there is a whole new level to travelling as soon as the sun goes down.
4. Prepare for the inconveniences. Before you head off to your dream destination, remember there is always something you can do to improve your travel. However, you don't have to plan an ideal holiday. This is a journey, and trips are cancelled just as you go. Prepare to wait at the airports and learn how to take the rough with the smooth, especially if you are going with kids.
5. Dress cool. Interestingly, you will get a better service if your looks match your bags, so don't forget about your fashion sense once you are outdoors. This may sound ridiculous at first, but there are proofs we actually love a stylish person, and if you are travelling, dressed to the nine, it will increase your chances of being addressed politely and handled with caution. Do not forget to bring the essentials such as extra toothbrush, for you will certainly lose one while traveling!

I like the idea, good one you getting it produced in the UK (wth help). For the last two drawings, where you comment about limited space, I think instead of a sudden narrowing of cycleway or carriageway to accommodate the sloped kerb, there should be a tapered buffer, so the kerb doesn't stick out as a hazard
